Come as You Are
Do you feel that life has gotten too fast and too crazy? Or perhaps the opposite, that you find yourself in the same old ruts at work, in relationships and you can’t envision life possibly continuing on like this for the foreseeable future?
You have come to the right place! I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in San Francisco. I do work that could be grouped with “counseling, coaching, professional listening, mental health and the healing arts.” No matter what you call it, I’ve been doing it for the past 10 years-- I work hard to create space where people like you can sit down, take a breath, let loose and be heard.
My clients come from a variety of places, are of different races and have different ways of gender expressions. Whether you are new to the area and adjusting to a change in scene, struggling with a new job or new promotion (congratulations!), or coming into or ending a relationship, you probably could benefit from a helping hand or listening ears.
While I am based in the city by the bay, I know that life circumstances can take us to less than ideal locations where the resources we need, say informed and respectful care, might be elusive or non-existent. In this day and age, I am happy to provide teletherapy over the phone or via video conferencing to folks anywhere in the state of California. I want good quality care to be accessible and available to you regardless of where life has led you both metaphorically and literally.
Congratulations on taking this first step, a great first step in taking care of you. Together, we can make change, your change, happen.
LGBTQ
You likely have not heard this enough:
No matter how you identify or whom you love, you are perfect the way you are.
People of Color
While we won’t have had the same experience growing up, you will feel seen and heard in the space we create together.
Life Transitions
Whether it’s starting or ending a relationship, arriving to the Bay Area or some other transition in life, I can help you create a new sense of balance so you’ll feel more like a driver than a passenger.
Hi, I’m Kat!
I dearly love my job, I consider it an honor to meet and share space with people every day. I have a humor-filled, straightforward approach and will if the occasion is needed “call out” what’s happening in the room. I use humor, collaboration and listening to create a system that works for you. In our sessions, you will work hard. But there will be laughter in addition to that metaphorical sweat. We’ll gently explore the past, so we can create an action plan for a better, more-livable future.
To be upfront and honest, I don’t believe “happiness and sunshine” should be the end goals of therapy, the sign that you’ve “made it.” Sometimes, that is not realistic or even in the realm of possibility given all that is happening for you right now. Sometimes just surviving the best we can can be enough. And should be enough. Therapy can get real, but I do believe that in the end, you will be in a better functioning and healthier space.
Send me a line today, and let’s get started.
